About Us
Based in Morden Manitoba, PTC was started in 2004. Our goal is to showcase local talent and to provide quality entertainment in our home town. Shows are typically performed during the summer months, and allow young people to develop their skills.
In 2008, Morden was named the Cultural Capital of Manitoba, as a result, the Poor Theatre Company became heavily involved with the Chautauqua Spirit Project. Our 2008 productions included:
- A walking tour visiting four special buildings in Morden of historical and architectural significance.
- Supporting a one-man play based on the experiences of a sailor on the H.M.C.S. Morden during WWII.
- A “collective creation play” that was inspired by images from the Metis rock art of Natalie Rostad.
Poor Theatre Scholarship
In 2005 the Poor Theatre Company scholarship was started. A percentage of our ticket sales go to the fund, and the award is given out every June to a graduating student at Morden Collegiate who plans to continue their theatre education. This year, it was awarded to Brianna Hunt. |
